Time Domain, an ultra wideband technology provider, expects to announce the availability of its Plus 2.0 product line Wednesday. The company says the system cost much less to deploy than other real-time location (RTLS) systems and can lower a company's cost of ownership over time.
PLUS 2.0 also can eliminate the installation of reference tags for calibration recovery during a power outage, or system downtime for maintenance or repair, according to the company.
The product line offers four levels of UWB precision monitoring for healthcare, manufacturing, safety and security and retail applications:
1) Zone-based, long-range > 150'/50M location tracking of 1,000s of items simultaneously;
2) 1-d, long-range >90'/30M tracking of an assembly process with < 36"/1m of accuracy along the line, making it suitable for work-in-process (WIP) manufacturing, especially in highly-metallic areas where other RFID technologies fail;
3) 2-d, single floor <36"/1M precision tracking of people, assets and processes operational asset visibility; and
4) 2.5-d, multi-floor <36"/1M precision tracking for enterprise scale solutions in large buildings, ensuring 'what floor' as well as 'where on the floor' location.
